Bluewater Dance Theatre 2023 Season
Bluewater Dance Theatre returns to the stage in September, 2023. Throughout the summer, area dancers will work with artistic director/choreographer Brandon Harneck to create four new works. Our 2023 dance production will consist of:
Act One:
The Wizard of Oz (Ballet) - Based on the 1900 L. Frank Baum novel and the subsequent 1939 film, the story follows a young girl named Dorothy who is swept away to a magical land called Oz, where she must journey to meet the Wizard and find her way back home to Kansas. Along the way, she befriends a Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion, and together they face various challenges and obstacles on their quest.
Act Two:
Strangers (Contemporary) - This piece explores the themes of human connection and isolation in our modern world. "Strangers" reflects the beauty and complexity of human relationships as strangers become acquaintances, friends and partners in an ever-evolving journey of life.
|
Orchestrated (Jazz) - "Orchestrated" is a jazz dance that brings musical instruments to life through movement. Dancers portray a variety of instruments such as the violin, trumpet, drums and piano showcasing their individual musical styles and personalities.
|
In Mourning (Contemporary) - Five soloists portray the complex emotions of grief, loss, and healing. This piece aims to convey the intense feelings that accompany the grieving process, honoring the memories of lost loved ones and celebrating the resilience of the human spirit.
